Remember the mood rings of your childhood? The jewel was supposed to turn different colors depending on your mood—red if you were angry, blue if you were sad, yellow if you were happy. Really, the ring just responded to body temperature, and Siglo Accessory has created two lighters that work in much the same way. Available in two models, the lighters are made with thermochromic material that will cause the surfaces to change color as they heat up.
The effect is novel, and they work quite simply: ignite the torch and watch the color slowly change as though someone is airbrushing the lighter from the top down right before your very eyes. If you’re not paying attention, the lighter will be one color when you light up your cigar and different when you’re finished. Camping Survival
The Chameleon model produces three flat jet flames and turns from black to blue. Its thumb-activated ignition button is on the front of the lighter and slides downward. A punch cutter folds neatly in the bottom.
For a cheerier tone, the larger Havana Sunrise tabletop lighter turns from orange to yellow, mimicking the rising sun. Side-actuating buttons conjure a single flat jet flame.
The Chameleon and Havana Sunrise have suggested retail prices of $154 and $193, respectively, but the gag will be priceless.
