Dropping makeup on the ground can be just as heart wrenching as an iPhone in free-fall. That second when fate is hung in gravity's hands feels like the longest one ever, right? If you do flip over a powder eye shadow (or even a highlighter) to see it crushed to smithereens, don't throw it away. Instead, let it live on in custom nail polish form.
In our new Mani Hack video, learn how to create a one-of-a-kind nail polish using crushed up eye shadow, clear polish, a pair of scissors and a resealable bag. Yup, that's all you need to channel your inner cosmetic chemist. Disinfecting Cabinets
As for actually making the polish, start by dumping the broken eye shadow into the resealable bag. Next, snip off one of the bag's corners. Then, filter the shadow into a bottle of clear nail polish via the hole you just snipped; the bag acts as a handy funnel. Once the bag is empty, recap the polish and shake, shake, shake. After the eye shadow is completely combined with clear nail polish, you'll have your very own custom nail polish in whatever shade your heart desires. TBH we can't help but wonder what a holographic eye shadow would look like as a nail polish. Excuse us while we crush up the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Fireball.
Another super-simple mani hack: Use an old liquid eyeliner to make fun dots and lines on your nails. (Just be sure to not use it on your eye afterwards.) You can see both of these hacks in action in the quick video above.
