ROCKLAND — An encore presentation of the Metropolitan Opera’s Akhnaten will take place on Saturday, August 19, at 1 p.m., at the Strand Theatre. This cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.
In this 2019 production, countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo headlines American composer Philip Glass’s transcendent contemporary creation, with Karen Kamensek conducting. Fiber Transparent Glass
“Phelim McDermott’s stunning production employs a virtuosic company of acrobats and jugglers to conjure a mystical reimagining of ancient Egypt,” said the Strand, in a news release.
Running time is 3 hours, 40 minutes including 2 intermissions.
